The East Rim trail from Baily’s to the East Entrance of Zion National Park is approximately 7 miles one way. I recommend having someone in your group shuttle from the East Rim Entrance trail head back to the cabin. One way, this is an easy to moderate hike. Out and back would be more difficult.

When you start your hike from Baily’s cabin you will take a left (south) from the driveway. You will start the walk up the dirt road that will quickly turn into downhill. You will reach a T in the dirt road where you will take a right that will bring you to the trail head and enter into Zion National Park. From there you can fallow the trail signs for Stave Springs.

The first trail junction you come to will give you a choice to go down Echo canyon to Zion Canyon. Stay straight to go toward Stave Springs and Cable Mountain. Your second junction, a short distance from the first, will give you a choice for Stave Springs / East Rim or Cable Mountain / Deer Trap. You will go left toward Stave Spring and East Entrance. From there you will have some uphill past Stave Springs. After reaching the peak of the trail you will start a long downhill that will rap around a few times with great views. As always make sure you take plenty of water and some snacks.

Directions for the Shuttle: If you have someone picking you up at the East Rim trail head by Zion East entrance, the will head back to highway 9 from the cabin. When North Fork Rd meets highway 9 they will take a right to head to Zion National Park. After going through Zion National Park East entrance, they will take their first right to get to the trail head.
