The Observation Point trail is approximately 6 miles round trip from the trail head of the East Mesa trail network. I recommend driving from the cabin to the trail head for this hike. The trail head is about 2 miles away on dirt road. You will leave Baily’s cabin driveway to the right, then take your first right. You will take a left that will put you on Beaver Rd. Stay straight on Beaver Rd and follow the signs to Observation Point. I would rate this hike on the easy side. Plan on about 2 to 3 hours for the out and back. It is also nice to plan more time to take in some of the side views on the way.
This is a great way to see Observation Point without having to hike from the bottom of Zion Canyon. A great part of this hike is you will see a lot less people on the way. The hike is fairly flat most of the way. As you get closer to Observation Point you will go through a downhill section. You will reach a Y in the trail. Take a right to go to Observation Point. Left will bring you down the steep switch backs to Weeping Rock and Zion canyon.
As always make sure you pack plenty of water and some snacks.
